    JOB SUMMARY

    This is a field service position responsible for electrical repairs, and maintenance and installation of our equipment into the field. The technician will be required to assemble products at our Nisku facility, install products in the field, commission equipment at various locations and troubleshoot issues that arise. This is a highly technical job that requires a suitable candidate that enjoys difficult problem solving and is creative in finding solutions.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Install electrical equipment located in either the field or shop in accordance to customer's needs.

    • Repair and maintain existing electrical equipment on drilling rigs and shop locations.

    • Complete field service tickets, time entry, vehicle logs and expense reports.

    • Operate and maintain a company vehicle in accordance to Nabors policies.

    • Flexible to assist in warehouse duties as required.

    • Report to Field Service Supervisor or Electrical Manager depending on location or task.

    • Work in a safe manner as defined by Nabors policies and accepted industry practices.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

    • Minimum 3-year Journeyman electrician experience in oil & gas industry required

    • Journeyman Electrician certificate

    • Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and the IEEE Standards

    • WHMIS

    • ARC Flash training

    • H2S Alive

    • Valid Driver's License

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)

    • Experience with Silicone Controlled Rectifiers (SCR)

    • Generator controls experience (Ross Hill, IPS, Woodward or Deif)

    • PLC programming experience

    • Competent with Microsoft Windows and Office applications

    • Full understanding of power generation, distribution and controls

    BEHAVIORAL COMPENTENCIES

    • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Able to work a flexible schedule.

    • Able to mentor apprentice electricians.

    • Interact with others in a professional manner

    TECHNICAL COMPENTENCIES

    • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills is a must.

    • Any PLC experience is an asset, especially experience with Allen Bradley, Omron, GE or Beckhoff.

    • Strong motor control experience with setting up and troubleshooting issues with VFD's. Any experience with Yaskawa, Converteam or ABB is an asset.

    • Capable of troubleshooting complicated electrical circuitry.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

    • This position requires extensive travel within Canada and the USA, with opportunities to work internationally.

    • Work a predetermined schedule, to maintain a work life balance. Overtime work during your shift will be required to meet customer requirements for service calls.

    • Shop work is based in Nisku, but field service work is primarily province wide with occasional work internationally.

    • Able to live in a dry camp environment when working out of town.

    • Walking or standing for long periods of time in non-climate-controlled conditions

    • Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl throughout the tour work shift while wearing Personal Protective Equipment at all times

    • Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems

    • Climbing stairs and/or ladders

    • Lifting up to 50lbs
