    Job Description

    Job Title: Buyer/Planner

    Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

    About the role:

    The Materials Management Team is responsible for the planning and purchasing of raw materials and components used to produced life sustaining medicines at Takeda's Thousand Oaks Manufacturing Facility.

    As part of this team, you will oversee a portfolio of auxiliary materials and ensure material availability for Site production requirements via Material Planning & Purchasing. Raw Material Inventory Management, and Material Issues Resolution & Risk Management.

    This is a hybrid role that reports to the Materials Management lead

    How you will contribute:

    • Review JDE Purchasing Messages (Order, Expedite, Defer) promptly and take the appropriate action to ensure material availability for production requirements.

    • Create and maintain purchase orders in ERP system, including order confirmations and expected delivery dates. Document and share supplier performance issues to appropriate internal functions, (Procurement, Supplier Quality.)

    • Communicate with material suppliers to ensure purchase orders are filled and delivered as expected. Escalate material supply risks to manager and inform internal stakeholders. Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute mitigation plans and provide updates. Coordinate with Takeda Buyer/Planners at other Sites to transfer inventory between plants.

    • Support new/revised material qualification efforts, including tech transfer projects, by gathering information, submitting Master Data forms, and placing purchase orders in relevant purchasing systems (JDE, Ariba.)

    • Monitor and manage inventory on hand to ensure good status and availability. Initiate discard orders for expired material, monitor lot hold codes / release status, and escalate issues.

    • Evaluate and update safety stock levels for BOM and non-BOM materials on a set frequency to ensure adequate coverage. Leverage software and digital tools to automate administrative and repetitive tasks and reduce paper waste.

    • Resolve excess, slow mover and obsolete inventory issues. Work with Finance Team for possible provision.

    • Maintain certain master data fields like Supplier Lead Times and Safety Stock levels. Work with Master Data Team on BOM and Item Branch changes.

    • Gather, analyze, and report data on key performance metrics. Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to identify process pain points and potential solutions.

    • Identify financial savings and cost avoidance opportunities. Participate in special projects and or other relevant work, as assigned.

    What you bring to Takeda:

    • Bachelor's degree OR associate's degree and minimum 6 years of Supply Chain or related technical experience.

    • Minimum two years Procurement or Supply Chain experience (transportation, warehousing, distribution, planning, purchasing) desirable

    • Biotech / Pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry experience desirable.

    • Experience working in a manufacturing environment desirable.

    Important Considerations

    • In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

    • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

    • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

    • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.

    • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

    • Work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a workweek as required.

    • May require availability outside regular business hours.

    U.S. Base Salary Range:

    $67,900.00 - $106,700.00

    The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

    U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
