    Your Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will strive to become a technical champion and resource for internal and external clients with regard to thermal and hygrothermal performance of the building envelope. This role will include assisting in developing company and industry wide tools, resources, and writing and presenting technical papers.

    From a project delivery perspective the successful candidate will

    • Evaluate the impact of thermal bridging on the thermal performance and condensation risks of building envelope assemblies and details using 3D heat transfer models (steady-state and transient) for product evaluation for manufacturers and aid in design of new construction or building retrofit projects

    • Evaluate the thermal performance of glazing systems following NFRC standards with 2D steady-state heat transfer analysis

    • Evaluate the hygrothermal performance of building envelope assemblies for R&D, aid in the design of new or retrofit projects and product evaluations for manufacturers

    Qualifications

    Your Credentials and Capabilities

    • Knowledge and experience with Finite Element Analysis software (Nx, Solidworks, ANSYS, etc)

    • Knowledge and experience with heat-air-moisture modeling of building envelope assemblies (WUFI, DELPHIN, hygIRC)

    • Knowledge and experience with 2D heat transfer modelling (THERM, flixo)

    • Prior experience monitoring and analyzing existing buildings is an asset

    • Practical knowledge of building construction and systems

    • Self-motivated and multi-tasker, excellent time management skills, and excellent communication skills (written, oral)

    • Prior experience utilizing 3D CAD is an asset

    • High degree of attention to detail

    • Strong ability to visualized 3D objects from 2D drawings

    • Strong consensus building skills and team approach

    Education and Experience

    Engineering degree with a specialization in building science

    Minimum 6 years of experience in a related field

    P.Eng. or eligibility for registration is an asset

    Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

    Salary Range(s):

    • $91,800 - $133,100 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

    The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
