Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Shift: 6PM - 6AM Shift differential: $2.50 per hour Benefits: 401(k) matching Dental insurance Disability insurance Employee assistance program Flexible spending account Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance Paid time off (Available Day 1) Referral program Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance POSITION SUMMARY: The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the plant boilers and refrigeration equipment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for safe operation, preventative maintenance and repairs of plant compressed air system, plant water and sewer system, water softening system and fire protection system. Performs or assists with roof repairs and leaks. Maintains working knowledge and understanding of the plant boiler system and refrigeration equipment. Works with other shift operators on all shifts to insure all components of the boiler system are fit for use, safe and capable of operating as required by plant operations. Knows and understands all start up, shut down, operating procedures for safe and efficient operations of the plant boiler system. Monitors boiler and condenser condition and treat water as needed to keep boilers and refrigeration system condenser scale free. Works with water chemical suppliers on changes they propose. Performs all needed preventive maintenance to assure optimum up-time operation with minimum adverse impact on production. Assures that the entire system is operated in a safe manner and that all components of the system are in compliance with OSHA and other agencies. Lends knowledge and ideas to the solution of problems involving the plant boiler and steam system. Keeps accurate and neat logs on the plant boilers and refrigeration systems. Check compressor area for any problems and inform proper people of any problems. Assist in training of new employees. Requires participation in Emergency Response Team and Process Safety Management. Performs other similar duties as requested. Ability to work rotating shifts. Maintains regular and consistent attendance. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products. Perform other duties as assigned. #firstinpeople Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. 2 years ammonia refrigeration experience is desired MN 1st Class "B" Boiler Operator license is required PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization in English Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to operate the specific equipment and tools required to perform the essential functions of the job Skill in working with computers and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software, desirable.
