The Earth and Biological Sciences Directorate (EBSD) leads novel and necessary research in three core areas: Atmospheric and Climate Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Environmental Molecular Sciences. The contributions of EBSD staff are many as we continue to elevate the impact of PNNL's science mission: to understand, predict, and control the complex adaptive systems underlying the science behind Earth, energy, and security.
ResponsibilitiesThe Biological Sciences Division (BSD) is currently seeking a mid-level Financial Coordinator. Financial Coordinators in BSD support over 200 staff and $30M in sales a year. Financial Coordinators in BSD work closely with our research staff to support projects and financial planning from proposal stage to project execution, and project close-out. This role is critical to the success of the project portfolio within BSD and the successful candidate for this position will join a team of financial coordinators who will serve as advisors to our technical staff.
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to provide in business and financial analysis and project management coordination for groups and activities within the Division. This position serves as a resource to line management and technical staff to ensure objectives are achieved and carried out consistently in the following areas: business and program management, contracts, finance, quality assurance, acquisitions, and sales. Routine external contacts include staff at DOE site office, DOE Headquarters and other clients, as well as vendors and collaborators at universities and other federal agencies. The successful candidate is expected to work in a collaborative environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Projects within the groups are primarily principal investigator led projects among various sponsors. Financial Coordinators are expected to identify potential areas of concerns associated with group activities, identify possible resolutions and work with appropriate management to resolve.

This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.
