SUMMARY:The Early Childhood Program Paraprofessional assists Early Childhood Administration, teachers and family support staff in program planning, preparation, and implementation for children ages birth to five and their families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist in the initiatives to support the Early Childhood mission, curriculum, and family programs which include all necessary paperwork, data and other program responsibilities.
- Assist in the set-up of screening activities including the cleaning of materials to maintain appropriate hygiene.
- Prepare materials for screening activities and complete follow-up with screening records.
- Assist in the training of screeners for identification of eligible children.
- Assist in the coordination of screening activities including scheduling appointments, student data entry, and review of screening records.
- Assist with active, aggressive "Child Find" activities.
- Supervise children for their health and safety as part of the screening activity.
- Assist in supporting families through the screening process.
- Participate in screening for the identification of eligible children.
- Assist in the coordination of screening activities at community locations.
- Assist with screening activities requiring flexible scheduling that is mutually agreed upon between the Paraprofessional, Screening Placement Specialist, and the supervising administrator.
- Assist in the preparation, setup and cleanup of in-service, family and special events.
- Check out/in of the curriculum boxes, family involvement kits, and home visit activity bags and maintenance the paperwork included in these curriculum materials.
- Maintain teacher workroom and assist as needed to complete other department functions.
- Assist in cataloging, storing, checking out/in toys, books, videos, resource materials, and maintaining inventory supplies for Early Childhood staff using technology systems and on-site support.
- Assist in parent-child interaction groups and home visits.
- Assist with recruitment activities and public relations in the community.
- Repair and maintenance (cleaning) of toys to achieve appropriate hygiene.
- Assist in the collection and compilation of department data.
- Assist Pre-K classroom teachers in the absence of child development paraprofessional; bus loading and unloading.
- Complete vision/hearing testing at screening and Early Childhood sites.
- Assumes any other duties as may be delegated from time to time by the Early Childhood Program Supervisor and the Supervisor may make any adjustment in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the best interest of the school district.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:High School Diploma
Pass Para-Pro Test
30 college credit hours preferably in child development and/or related areas
Vision/Hearing screening certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Team cooperation, interpersonal communication abilities, ability to be flexible and open to change. Basic computer skills and Early Childhood Program experience.
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required. Training or interest in infants, toddlers and young children preferred.
Travel is required. Bilingual may be required.
