Beginning Sort Yard Operator

Weyerhaeuser's Sort Yard facility located in Longview, Washington has an opening for a Beginning Sort Yard Operator. This position will contribute to a safe and efficient working environment as a member of the flow-to-work log yard team, operating various pieces of log handling equipment, participating in cleanup activities, and other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time position. Hourly employees are represented by the IAM-AW Union. Benefits (in accordance with the Labor Agreement) include medical, dental, vision, 401k plans, vacation, and holidays. Rate of pay is $33.240 with potential of reaching $34.675 per hour.

Key Functions:

• Committed to work safely and adhere to log yard safety procedures

• Safely and competently operate equipment associated with all aspects of log handling (unloading and loading trucks, sorting, stacking and transporting)

• Recognize various log species and sorts

• Perform daily equipment inspections and complete preventive maintenance procedures

• Collaborate with team members, as well as work independently

• Contribute positively within a highly efficient and safe work team

• Adapt to job assignment changes and flow to work as needed

• Perform overtime duties when needed to meet customer demands

• Prioritize work schedule and work under pressure

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Personal commitment to working safe in all situations

• Valid driver's license

• Ability to operate various pieces of equipment (including but not limited to log stacker, scoop, log shovel

• Experience working in a log yard and/or operating log handling equipment preferred

• General knowledge of log species and sorts, handling logs in and out of storage decks, unloading and loading log trucks

• Obtain and maintain a TWIC card (Transportation Workers Identification Credential)

• Successful candidate must be available to work all shifts (days, swing and weekend)

• Complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check

This position is designated by WY as asafety-sensitive position. Please be advised that due to the designation of this position as safety-sensitive, you will be subject to pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites.

What We Offer Compensation: Your wages and benefits are set by the labor agreement between Weyerhaeuser and the union representing employees at this work site. Rate of pay is $33.240 with potential of reaching $34.675 per hour.
