  • The Analyst Trainee NE is training position responsible for preparing future investment banking analysts in assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The overall objective of this role is to prepare incoming Investment Banking Analysts for their role as a strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for organizing and analyzing sophisticated financial data used in client proposals and strategic plans

    • Prepare written recommendations, valuation materials and statistical exhibits for pitches and live deals

    • Conduct economic/financial research

    • Evaluate company's financial performance compared to overall industry and market trends

    • Build complex financial models for valuation purposes

    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

    Qualifications:

    • 0-2 years relevant experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration

    • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment in order to meet deadlines

    Education:

    • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience

    Citi's Banking Team is looking for a Summer Analyst to join the Investment Banking team in Calgary . The Investment Banking group advises corporate clients who want to raise funds in capital markets and who need strategic support in financial transactions. Initiatives you may be working on with clients include mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, financial restructurings, underwriting, and distributing equity, debt, and derivative securities. As an Investment Banking Summer Analyst, you will join an intensive training program in New York, where you will receive in-depth education on a variety of these topics to learn the fundamentals of the Summer Analyst role and introduce you to Citi's culture.

    Your time here will look something like this..

    • Collecting and analyzing company information to assist transactions, including conducting industry research, revising, and organizing financial data

    • Analyzing financial data and developing financial models including company valuations, discounted cash flow analysis, financing, and comparative analyses

    • Creating and finalizing new business development presentations

    • Assisting in the production of confidential information memorandums

    • Working collaboratively with global deal teams across a number of regions on various cross-border transactions

    • Coordinating tasks with internal and external working teams

    • You are planning to obtain your undergraduate degree between December 2025 and May 2026.

    • You have an interest in the capital markets and knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of financial statements.

    • You have proficient computer and financial modeling skills

    • You want to develop an ability to interact directly with clients

    • You possess superior verbal and written communication skills

    • You work well in a team environment

    • You can demonstrate a track record of managing numerous tasks and deadlines simultaneously
