    Job Description & Duties:
    An automotive technician is responsible for performing various tasks related to the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of vehicles. This includes conducting routine services, identifying and resolving mechanical issues, and ensuring vehicles meet safety and performance standards. Key responsibilities typically include but not limited to:

    1. Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards. Perform Lube oil and filter changes, apply oil change stickers to windshield based on manufacturer, tire rotations, tire replacement mounting and balancing, wiper blades replacements, differential service, transmission service, transfer case service, reset all vehicle oil change indicator lights as well as warning lights, brake pads, NY state inspections, programming of keys fobs and RKE, software updates and scheduled maintenance. You will need to check and reset all tire pressure requirements including the spare.

    1. Diagnoses the cause of any malfunction and performs repair.

    1. Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.

    1. Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.

    1. Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.

    1. Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.

    1. Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.

    1. Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.

    1. Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.

    1. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.

    1. Supervises the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.

    1. Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.

    1. Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.

    1. Keeps the shop area neat and clean.

    1. Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.

    1. Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.

    1. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

    1. Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

    1. Assist customers with vehicle knowledge.
