JOB POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary focus of the Automation Engineering Automation Engineer is to work with
the Engineered-to-Order (ETO) and Modernization groups to support our customers by
implementing software and hardware solutions that satisfy the contract. Be part of a
team of software, electrical and field engineers, the engineer will participate
commissioning, troubleshooting, updating software, and ensuring our equipment is
exceeding our customer’s expectations.
This individual reports directly to the Manager, Automation Engineering.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Customizing of crane controls using existing software modules and standards from
global automation engineering for various applications if they are proven to work and
meet our customer’s needs.
Support the factory acceptance, commissioning, and life cycle of our customer’s
material handling equipment in ETO and the Modernization groups by understanding
the PLC software and modifying the script as necessary to meet the customer’s needs.
Report improvement findings to Manager, Automation Engineering.
Monitor suppliers of automation peripheral equipment such as SICK and other
interfacing products. Be able to develop replacement of obsolete discrete (peripheral
equipment) devises requiring software upgrades or modified interface software and
hardware.
Participate in resolving control/software/automation problems (shop or field) by working
with other engineers and service technicians, along with persons in other departments,
to define problems, research, and prepare solutions by properly communicating with the
necessary personnel.
Be able to travel to customer sites to troubleshoot problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:Shall have BSEE; in software/electrical/automation.
1 to 3 years of programming in Siemens PLC platform, and Siemens HMI programming
experience. Knowledge in setting up variable frequency drives and control system for
material handling devices is preferred.
Knowledgeable with using and applying the NEC electrical code and OSHA safety
requirements are required.
