    Summary of Position

    The Athletic Trainer will assume a leadership role in the sports medicine team activities. The Athletic Trainer will also provide on-site athletic training coverage at area high schools and community events as directed. Duties may include, but are not limited to, cost management, documentation according to department standards, professional practice activities, public speaking, and student interaction. The athletic trainer will work in conjunction with physical therapists when appropriate.

    Nature and Scope

    The Athletic Trainer reports to the Practice Manager of Premier Sports Medicine. The Athletic Trainer may also be responsible for on-site athletic training coverage at designated school and community athletic events. The Athletic Trainer satisfactorily completes all documentation at the designated schools and the department in a timely fashion. The Athletic Trainer will complete and submit injury report documentation to the sports medicine physicians of injured athletes before the physician visit.

    The Athletic Trainer will assist or coordinate other programs/activities as assigned. The Athletic Trainer serves as a flexible member of both departmental and interdisciplinary teams, including participation in in-service training and assisting others as needed. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for his/her own professional development, for demonstrating good customer relations and for contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department and Sports Medicine programs. The Athletic Trainer exhibits behavior of being an advocate for both the athletes and Premier Sports Medicine. The Athletic Trainer will adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plans of the designated school and Premier Sports Medicine.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's degree required with a concentration in athletic training or has graduated from an accredited Athletic Training program.

    2. Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Ohio

    3. National Athletic Trainers Association certification; CPR and First Aid

    4. Recommend First Aid/CPR instructor American Red Cross.

    5. Thorough understanding of HIPAA law.
