    $108,483.00 - $162,725.00

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE

    Directs and supervises staff and resources to ensure efficient and effective operations. Plans, develops, and directs enterprise-wide activities associated with the development, implementation and maintenance of the clinical applications in and integrated with our electronic health record. Serves as the advisor to institutional leadership on policy, procedures and practice changes as it relates to clinical information systems in the inpatient and outpatient settings, attends senior leadership forums. Engages in the development of and execution of strategic plans across designated application team(s) to help achieve our mission to empower our healthcare, education and research partners across the University with digital technology to drive efficiencies, create value and improve our competitive advantage.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Acts as an accountable leader for their designated team. Collaborates with key stakeholders to integrate this information with the hospitals and department's strategic plans, using knowledge of current and future clinical acute and ambulatory applications. Provides clinical systems analysis and area expertise required to support the implementation of enterprise-wide clinical systems and new business initiatives. Uses significant conceptualization, reasoning and interpretation skills to improve upon entire systems or processes.

    • Creates and fosters relationships with relevant clinical, technical and operational leadership. Works with interdepartmental teams to develop end-to-end change, incident and problem management processes. Ensures that all incidents are handled in a timely and appropriate manner and acts as a primary point of escalation during critical incidents. Communicates with stakeholders within and outside of own area and (typically) external to the department (including executive and senior leaders) depending on area. Negotiates and effectively communicates area's existing or new practices, concepts and approaches.

    • Manages a job family or large team of application coordinators and analysts in support of execution technology operations and projects across URMC, including affiliates across the region. Provides coaching/mentoring to standardize best practices across all team activities. Acts as a champion for continuous improvement as demonstrated by personal example. Leads a high-performance team, establishing clear goals, opportunities and career trajectories for team members assigned. Allocates and assigns personnel and technical resources to meet enterprise needs. Maintains hiring, firing, promotion, performance and reward authority in accordance with HR policies.

    • Keeps abreast of industry standards, practices and new technologies to enhance key stakeholder satisfaction with Information Technology Services. Serves as an active member of the department Leadership. Collaborates with team on new policy, interpretation, updates and the setting of new department wide initiatives. Makes recommendations on employee engagement, motivation, retention and growth of staff.

    • Offers resources and assistance, when possible, to internal Directors and Managers during projects, vacancies. Assists in the recruiting of designated positions within the department.

    • Plans, manages, and participates in relevant department capital and operating budgeting processes. Maintains an ongoing awareness of project resources in relation to budget plan parameters and rate of spend for use in decision making and influence in assigned area and across the department.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related field required.

    • 10 years related experience required.

    • Equivalent combination of education and experience required.

    • Experience in an academic medical center or health-system preferred.

    • 3 years of experience leading and managing an Epic application team preferred.

    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization including with executives, physicians, and nurses, with the ability to discuss technical information in a meaningful way with persons of varying levels of expertise required.

    • Ability to demonstrate objectivity, sensitivity and a balanced perspective regarding employee concerns and organizational issues required.

    • Ability to establish the strategic direction and business plans for sub-service line required.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create clear, concise and prompt communications required.

    • Exhibits managerial courage. Willing to take calculated risks and to speak up for the best interests of the team required.

    • Strong follow-through skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously required.

    • Knowledge of leadership and staff development practices and principles, coaching, talent management, strategies and programs preferred.
