    Job Title: Assistant Chemical Lab Manager (this is not a lab that processes biological material)

    Position Duties: Supports the Chemical Lab Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Chemical Lab, including managing lab personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards (local, state, federal), and optimizing lab processes. Reviews wastewater treatment, chemical usage, inventory, and hazardous waste. Anticipates issues and personnel problems, then resolves problems to minimize their effect on production. Maintains good housekeeping and enforces safe work practices.

    DUTIES:

    • Upholds company policies and procedures
    • Supports Chemical Lab Manager in all duties and fills in when absent
    • Develops and maintains written procedures for all chemical activities and analysis
    • Supervise, mentor, and support lab personnel, provide training and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to lab procedures. Work scheduling also includes placing employees in appropriate positions to increase productivity
    • Ensure the lab operates in compliance with all safety regulations, environmental guidelines, andi ndustry standards. Including local, state, and federal policies. Enforce safety protocols and procedures
    • Responsible for chemical waste and dump schedule
    • Monitor and maintain the quality of the laboratory processes and results. Develop and implement quality control procedures and perform regular audits to ensure accuracy and reliability
    • Manages and controls waste treatment equipment/operations to ensure compliance
    • Maintains records for employees in the department such as performance evaluations, disciplinary,notes on performance, etc.
    • Implements continuous improvement activities such as new Chemical Equipment, Test Instruments and Processes to enhance quality and optimize throughput
    • Research new products offered by chemical suppliers
    • Develops, maintains, and adjusts job routings as requested
    • Prepares discharge reports, manifests, and other reports as assigned for upper management staff. Management may require reports on safety issues in the department, productivity, and goals
    • Exercises good housekeeping practices - keeps work areas, lab equipment, floors, counter tops,cabinets, etc. clean and organized
    • Work with production managers, supervisors, and line operators to trouble shoot production issues
    • Responsible for lowering waste and maximizing plating chemistry efficiencies. This may include more monitoring, more tank dumping (decant), less tank dumping to maximize output whiler educing overall cost through loss of time measured by OTD, Cost of Quality, Profit Margin Analysis.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • 4 years college with chemistry background preferred
    • 5 years industry experience; preferably in-house
    • CEF or Plating essentials course preferred
    • Hazardous waste training preferred
    • Hazwoper training and forklift license
    • Ability to maintain a regular and reliable attendance record
    • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Must be a US citizen or have authorization to work in the US
    • Must be able to read a ruler/tape measure and analog clock
    • Leadership skills to direct employees toward production goals - motivate, influence, and train
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be familiar with the methods of production used in the department including machinery/equipment/ instruments
    • Experience in establishing department objectives/goals, enhancing production, and accomplishing intended results
    • Detail orientated to monitor ongoing activities in the organization
    • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
    • Possess excellent decision making and organizational skills
    • Familiarity with plating specs and company spec library
    • Working knowledge of our plating process characteristics and limitations
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints• Ability to multitask
    • Elevated math skills required
    • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

    Shift & Wage:

    1st Shift: Days$65,500 + / Year Salary DOQ

    (Reviews: 60 days and 6 months, twice a year for first 3 years, then yearly - which may come with a rate increase, providing the employee meets company and performance standards)

    Signing Bonus: $1500 (current employees are not eligible for signing bonus)
