Associate Laboratory Technician

Overview

Performs laboratory assays that demand a professional application of the principles, theories, and techniques of cell culture and media preparation.

Position Details:

• Monday to Friday 8 AM to 4 PM with occasional weekend and holiday work

• Anticipated Pay Range: $19-21 per hour dependent on experience

• Temporary 12-month position (not benefits eligible) with possibility to convert to permanent employee

• 100% Onsite at our facility in St Paul, MN

Responsibilities

• Provides operational support for IVTS activities including Aseptic Technique, cell culture, light and fluorescent microscopy and reagent preparation.

• Performs assays and proper documentation.

• Organizes laboratory supplies, media and reagent shipments.

• Performs daily monitoring and cleaning of equipment and applicable facilities.

• Prepares documentation of in house media and reagents.

• Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.

• Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.

• Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.

• Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.

• May be required to work Holidays and weekends.

• May be required to work overtime.

• Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.

• Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

• Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.

• Other duties as assigned.

• May be required to assist in other departments.

Qualifications

Experience / Education

• No experience required

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

• GLP/GMP experience preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills

• Need to be able to read, write and understand English

• Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in a Lab setting with exposure to animals/biohazards/chemical

• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE

• Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels

• Ability to stand for long periods of time

• Clarity of vision

• Ability to identify and distinguish colors

• Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions

• Ability to lift 50 lbs routinely/often/occasionally

• Ability to crouch, bend, twist and reach

• Ability to push/pull 50 lbs routinely/often occasionally

• Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing

• Inside working conditions
