The Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine (FJHM) is the dedicated development and alumni relations team supporting the entities that comprise Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), including clinical departments, hospitals, satellite clinics, and the School of Medicine. We contribute to Johns Hopkins Medicine's mission of patient care, research, and education through securing philanthropy, building and maintaining donor and alumni relationships, and supporting institutional priorities. FJHM partners closely with institutional leaders, faculty, and clinicians to engage alumni, patients, donors, and prospects in JHM's work to advance medicine and improve the human condition.
The Johns Hopkins Children's Center Associate Director, Corporate Relations, is an integral member of the Children's Center development team. This position, which reports directly to the Director of Corporate Relations, is responsible for managing a portfolio of existing corporate donors, as well as engaging and activating new corporate partners. The Associate Director serves as a program director for our Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) partnership, which includes national partner activation and support on a local level through communication, campaign preparation and support, visits and events, CMN national conferences and calls, and maintaining relationships with CMNH colleagues and leadership executives. The Associate Director will also take lead on one of Johns Hopkins Children's Center signature fundraising events, manage the corporate relations intern program and assist the Director and broader Children's Center team with events throughout the year.
Key responsibilities:
Prospect Management
Manages portfolio of a minimum of 80 annual and major corporate donor partnerships, including major donors and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) partners who raise five and six figure gifts annually for Johns Hopkins Children's Center.
Collaborates with the Director to develop and implement strategy for building donor pipeline by routinely identifying and engaging new corporate partnership opportunities. This includes conducting research, qualification visits, soliciting donations, and conducting appropriate follow-up and stewardship.
Identifies opportunities for grant submissions with both new and existing corporate partners.
Updates JHAS (constituent database) with visits, proposals, and utilizes reporting for analyzing Corporate Relations data.
Children's Miracle Network
Responsible for meeting the expectations of our corporate partners in the professional standard set by Johns Hopkins, and as outlined by the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals contract. This includes determining areas of growth, establishing relationships with non-participating/new locations, managing year-round of existing CMNH in-store campaigns, setting fundraising goals, engaging partner locations, providing year-round support, and developing and implementing innovative stewardship strategy.
Engages and strategizes with both national and regional leadership representing CMNH national partners.
Develops and executes strategies for fundraising campaigns and provides 1:1 support to partners throughout the year.
Identifies and cultivates new relationships within existing CMNH local partners.
Oversees the design and creation of cause marketing materials for CMNH corporate partners.
Responsible for building relationships with grateful patients and securing patients and hospital representatives to participate in several initiatives throughout the year.
Attends important CMNH events and meetings, including annual meeting in Salt Lake City, Children's Hospitals Week in Orlando, and regional team meeting (number of meetings and meeting locations vary).
Signature Event Management
Represents the JHCC CR team at signature events.
Assists with Radiothon event logistics and preparations, i.e., developing event programming, sourcing patient families, conducting patient family interviews, supporting story song production, etc.
Works with Director to develop corporate pipeline to engage through signature events and year-round opportunities
General Corporate Relations
Works with Director to identify and solicit new corporate partners for support.
Provides strategy and assistance with JHCC's Corporate Advisory Board
Responsible for securing gifts in-kind for approved corporate relations activities/events
Responsible for selecting and distributing donor recognition items for individual and corporate donors
Works with MGO's and faculty to identify areas of need for corporate support
Works with Marketing and Communications team on web and social media related items regarding CMNH and corporate campaigns and initiatives.
Manages year-round Corporate Relations Intern programs, including developing new strategy for recruiting and managing
Assists with third party events as needed
Supports onboarding of new gift officers and other staff, volunteers, and interns to JHCC Corporate Relations Team
Serves as a representative of the Department of Pediatrics and Johns Hopkins Children's Center's development office at events as needed
Acts as a collegial, collaborative and professional colleague to the larger JHCC development team.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Three years related experience, with at least two years of professional experience.
Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends
Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to personal vehicle for transportation
Must be able to travel within and out of state
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines within a dynamic work environment
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Creative thinking and attention to detail
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with online fundraising software, email marketing software, and web-based research
