    Definition

    This is a full-time position in the City's Public Works Department. An individual in this position is responsible for assisting the Streets Superintendent with managing, directing and coordinating the activities of the Streets and Drainage Maintenance Operations. Report to Streets Superintendent.

    Examples of Work
    • Assist Street Superintendent with implementing the Division's goals and objectives; recommend, administer and implement policies and procedures;
    • Participate in the development of the Division's daily work plan; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; Perform inspections;
    • Must know how to scale and measure distances and have basic math skills to compute quantities and estimates when requested;
    • Assist with Pre-construction, construction and post construction efforts including photos and videos;
    • Monitor and manage maintenance operations in rights-of-way. Assist with managing the City's street sweeping, sidewalk replacement, curb repair, inlet aprons and top repair, mowing and pothole patching programs;
    • Assist with Ditch Maintenance Program that includes excavating, cleaning/clearing drains, and setting pipes;
    • Ensure that all materials and equipment are installed according to specifications and contractual requirements;
    • Operate light and heavy-duty equipment as needed;
    • Assist with training employees on equipment and working in right-of way;
    • Respond to natural disasters, emergency operations as well as on-call emergencies;
    • Provide written and verbal correspondence to citizens, homeowners associations, property management companies, and contractors;
    • Manage administrative operations for Community Service Program with Fort Bend County Community Corrections and Fort Bend County;
    • Perform other related duties as assigned;
    • Provide On-call duties per dispatch request;
    • Subject to 24- hour recall and Emergency Operations recall.
    Education, Experience, or Certification

    Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or closely related field at m accredited college or university and three (3) years relevant professional experience in public works and/or construction required; or a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate and seven (7) years relevant professional experience in public works and/or construction required.

    • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in operation and deployment of heavy and light construction equipment, such as dump trucks, excavators, tractors, generators and power tools.
    • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
    • CDL License required.
