    Job Description

    The Assistant Geologist will assist on a variety of environmental investigation and remediation-based projects for federal, state, local, and commercial clients. This on-site position requires the selected candidate to work primarily from the office located at 8201 Norman Center Drive, Bloomington, MN, with occasional travel ranging from 10% to 30%. The role is eligible for a flex 9/80 schedule after an initial traditional schedule period, subject to managerial approval. The selected candidate will work 32 hours per week, with the possibility of fewer hours in some weeks.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with field-related activities including logging soils, air monitoring during investigation and remediation activities, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, and collection of soil, groundwater, and vapor samples for field screening and laboratory analysis.

    • Evaluate soil and groundwater data, develop soil and groundwater sampling plans, and compile data for soil, air, and groundwater analytical results.

    • Assist with proposal preparation, work plans, and report writing for environmental-based projects.

    • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors for field investigation activities and assist with site remediation planning and implementation.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Comply with all policies and standards.

    Essential Skills

    • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related Environmental degree (must be shown on resume).

    • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.

    • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience.

    • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher (must be shown on resume).

    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing environmental site investigations and remediation, including site assessments, Phase I and Phase II, evaluation of CCR, PFAS, and other pressing contaminants of concern.

    • Knowledge and understanding of contaminants of concern and applicable analytical sampling requirements for site characterization.

    • Working knowledge of standard geological techniques, principles, and procedures.

    • Basic knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System, glacial deposits, hydrogeology, and groundwater sampling.

    • Basic knowledge of OSHA, CERCLA, and remedial design.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment with demonstrated critical thinking skills.

    • Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

    • Valid driver's license is required.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    • Basic knowledge in ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator is preferred.

    • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

    • Demonstrated leadership skills.

    Work Environment

    The candidate must be willing to travel 10% to 30% of the time, using either personal or rental vehicles. The role offers a flexible 9/80 schedule after an initial period of a traditional schedule, based on managerial approval. The work environment requires adherence to safety policies and standards, and the candidate must be able to work in various field conditions.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.50
