    JOB OBJECTIVE:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Prepare breakfast and commence noon meal following menu schedule.
    2. Responsible for ensuring food is prepared and ready at scheduled time.
    3. Supervise kitchen helpers, assigning duties as required during absence of Kitchen Supervisor.
    4. Serves meals from serving line.
    5. Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and order in kitchen.
    6. Ensure that all personnel on shift understand need for personal hygiene, are clean shaven and wearing clean, appropriate clothing.
    7. Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army
    OTHER DUTIES:

    Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Administrator.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervisory responsibilities for kitchen helpers when Kitchen Supervisor is unavailable. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.

    This position starts at $14.00 per hour.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, certifications,

    skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

    Education and/or Experience:

    High School Diploma or currently pursuing.

    Minimum of six (6) months experience in institutional cooking.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Clerical/Mathematics Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The kitchen work environment is frequently warm and humid and the noise level is usually moderate.
