Assistant Controller

Job Description

In this role, you will report to the Financial Controller, and as the Assistant Controller, you will assist at setting the strategic direction and tactical priorities for the accounting function and develops recommendations for accounting policies and practices. They oversee the internal controls over Canadian Operations Accounting (Accounting). While not directly responsible, you will contribute to matters regarding consolidated financial reporting, including the preparation of audited year end consolidated financial statements and coordination of the year end external audit.

The Assistant Controller is primarily focused on tactical priorities but is expected to set aside sufficient time to validate that established Accounting practices expected to be performed by the Accounting team, are in fact being performed to an expected standard.

Focusing on Canadian Operations, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

- Together with the Controller the AC oversees execution of the tactical priorities that support the strategic direction for the accounting policies of the partnership.

- Has direct input into and oversees execution of internal controls over financial reporting.

- Oversees production of historical financial information that supports strategic decision making, forecasting, and achieving business goals in Canada.

- Directly responsible for financial reporting to the Senior Management Team, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and owners, as it relates to Canadian operations.

- Contributes to a culture that reflects the Kal Tire AIMS and supports team member development, engagement, and a positive work environment.

Skills and Requirements

• Minimum 10 years in a professional accounting and financial reporting environment

- At least 5 years of financial management experience growing and managing teams

- Good working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, internal controls and accounting/financial reporting best practices.

- Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex business and financial accounting issues. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including note disclosures.

- Extensive experience in preparing various reports, which appraise, interpret and communicate the financial results and status of the company against business plans and objectives.

Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting and CPA designation Insight null
