  • Job Title: Assistant Accountant

    Job Description

    We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our client's team as a permanent employee. This role involves ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, providing financial analysis, and supporting audits. The ideal candidate will also offer leadership and development to the finance team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Analyze accounting and financial records for accuracy and compliance.

    • Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial analysis.

    • Assist with internal and external audits.

    • Prepare monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports.

    • Create and analyze budgets and KPIs.

    • Perform financial analysis and reconcile transactions.

    • Maintain and verify financial databases.

    • Develop automated accounting applications to increase productivity.

    Must Have Experience:

    • 2-3 years as a senior accountant or Assistant Controller.

    • CPA designation or equivalent.

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

    • Experience managing a team of at least two people.

    • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, Xlookups, Vlookups, SUMifs).

    • Exposure to ERP systems.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Nice to Have Experience:

    • Experience in distribution or manufacturing.

    Soft Skills:

    • Friendly and collaborative.

    • Team player with a willingness to help.

    • Quick learner with attention to detail and accuracy.

    • Not shy to ask questions and eager to learn.

    Work Environment:

    • 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm with a one-hour lunch.

    • Office location: Richmond, BC.

    • Hybrid model after initial probation: 3 days onsite, 2 days off-site.

    • 6-person accounting team.
