  • Overview:

    The Branch Assistant Manager oversees all associates to ensure they deliver accurate, professional, and solution-focused service to members. This role supports the Manager in all areas of operations, ensuring friendly and efficient service to the membership. In the Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager assumes full responsibility for the operation of the credit union branch. The position also requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of and strict compliance with security procedures and internal controls. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversees and enhances the solution oriented assistance to members. Specifically develops and enhances abilities of associates to professionally and proactively help members in achieving their financial objectives with financial guidance and advice. Coaches associates to be oriented toward recognizing member needs.

    • Develops associates to work with members to resolve potential problems. Oversees assistance to members to anticipate potential problems and offer suggestions and possible solutions.

    • Responsible for the accurate and efficient operations of assigned Personal Bankers. Assists Manager with all aspects of efficient day-to-day operations of the branch.

    • Oversees and enhances associates ability to meet member needs with promotion of important credit union products. Specifically develops and enhances ability of associates to understand member’s needs and professionally promote appropriate credit union products and services. Helps associates be successful in increasing member service usage of Palmetto Citizens products.

    • Works with associates to develop a strong knowledge of Palmetto Citizens products. This ability develops over time as associates learn and apply their knowledge when working with members.

    • Performs all duties within loan officer authority in extending quality loans to members. Is a responsible loan officer, interviews members and assists members with provident and productive loans tailored to their financial situation. Counsels loan applicants regarding solutions for financial problems. Approves and denies loans.

    • Promotes the service center sale of credit union products, including but not limited to, Payment Protection, vehicle repair insurance, and Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) coverage within defined area.

    • Responsible for good public relations with members and potential members. Maintains a professional posture and positive attitude at all times in order to set an example for all associates

    • Responsible for maintaining open communication between administrative staff and branch associates at all times. Exhibits supportive attitude of administration to associates.

    • Develops associates appropriately to handle all functions. Oversees and enhances associates in meeting member needs, and specifically develops and enhances ability of associates to provide friendly, quality service to members. Delegates, directs, coordinates and reviews work of assigned associates.

    • Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.

    • 5+ years of cash handling and customer service experience in a retail banking or credit union environment.

    • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a customer service/sales environment, preferably within financial services.

    • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring abilities to inspire and develop associates.

    • Knowledge of credit union products, services, and compliance regulations.

    • Proven ability to handle escalated customer concerns effectively and professionally.

    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to manage day-to-day operations.

    • Proficiency in leveraging AI loan decisioning systems and understanding lending compliance.

    • Bilingual skills (a plus).

    • Prior experience as a Head Teller or similar supervisory role in financial operations preferred.
