  • Overview:

    The Y of Greater Monmouth County is seeking a passionate and experienced STEAM Instructor intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. The STEAM Instructor must have the ability to prepare and instruct from the curriculum provided and be comfortable instructing school-aged children in non-traditional environments all while ensuring the safety, and wellbeing of the students. Experience and basic knowledge in art, science, engineering, and/or mathematics is preferred.

    Approximately 20 hours per week

    Monday - Thursday 2:30pm 4:30pm (Fridays flexible schedule)

    Pre-season start date: September 4

    Program dates: September 23, 2024 – May, 2025

    Locations – Freehold Family Y / Monmouth County School District

    Responsibilities:

    • Implement established Y STEM curricula


    • Create a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment


    • Reflect on successes and areas of growth as a teacher, seek to improve performance, and respond to feedback


    • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, and grade-level activities


    • Track attendance and confirm absences prior to the start of the program


    • Set up class space, clean up after class, and store materials properly


    • Must ensure proper dismissal to designated adults with or without site coordinator present


    • Perform demonstrations for the class on technique and process.


    • Assist in the selection and/or recommendation of class materials; provide economical options and alternatives


    • Monitor the safety of all projects


    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred


    • Has experience and enjoy working with children ages 5-14


    • Has reliable transportation


    • Has flexibility, excellent work ethic and be dependable


    • Enthusiastic and be able to work independently


    • Knowledge of science, math, or engineering background or experience


    • Knowledge of technology and how to incorporate into instructional practice


    • Has the ability to work in a constantly changing environments and adapts flexibly in shifting projects or priorities to meet the needs of a dynamic transformation effort; comfortable with ambiguity and non-routine situations.


    • Flexible schedule with availability after regular school hours


    • Must pass background check


    • CPR, First Aid certified or within 90 days of hire
