    Job Description

    The AECOM cultural resources team is currently seeking an Archaeologist applicant for an office position providing report writing and laboratory support in the cultural resources London office team. The key responsibilities are to contribute to report composition, data management, cultural material processing and analysis, and administration. In this position, you will work closely with AECOM's Project Managers and must have a willingness to learn and develop professionally where required.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Performs standard scientific work requiring the application of techniques and procedures.

    • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of the sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

    • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

    • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within the scope of scientific knowledge.

    • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

    • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

    • Works under general supervision.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Resources, Heritage, Anthropology, or other related field.

    • 2 years of relevant experience, either in an archaeological lab cataloguing/processing artifacts or in archaeological report writing.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with the Ontario MCM's Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists.

    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate logistics for multiple field teams

    • Experience with field effort tracking- i.e. collection and management of all field data

    • Must support the management of projects from the proposal phase to report completion, including coordination of multidisciplinary teams to successfully execute project deliverables.

    • Basic knowledge of the heritage planning process including the identification of built heritage or cultural heritage landscapes.

    • Additional experience in the field conducting archaeological excavations.

    • Valid Research or Professional class license issued by the Ontario MCM

    • Well-demonstrated research and writing skills.

    • Demonstrated dedication to following and promoting a strong health and safety culture.

    • Excellent written and communication skills.

    • Attention to detail.

    • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

    • Dedication to learning required laboratory skills under the direction of management.

    Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $50,000.00 - $70,000.00.
