IPG is focused on developing next-generation products & processes based on IPG's state-of- the- art lasers. The Applications Lab Intern is responsible for working as a team member to support the development of laser welding and/or Laser cleaning processes. The successful candidate must have the ability to learn new skills quickly and follow established company practices.

• Support applications team in Marlborough, MA with development of new laser welding and Laser cleaning Manufacturing processes for customers
• Operate robotic & CNC machines; execute test plans and or DOE's
• Cut, polish, and analyze Weld cross sections and analyze test
• Complete summer internship project on topic of interest to IPG
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing work.

• Enrolled in an engineering degree or a technical school program; Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology preferred
• Familiarity with metallographic equipment for cutting, polishing and measuring of weld specimens
• Knowledge of basic welding principles and practices
• Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills required for interaction within group and other departments
