    The Opportunity

    The Tax Analyst II will be a member of the Ally Tax Team. The Tax team is responsible for the recording and reporting of tax results for disclosure in the financial statements, preparing tax calculations used for forecasting, preparing taxable income information for the Income Tax returns, and supporting the preparation of the US Income Tax return. This position plays a critical role in providing accurate, timely, and relevant tax information to key stakeholders of the company. The ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid work environment with a talented team focused on working efficiently to promote work/life balance is strongly preferred.

    The Work Itself

    • Perform tax accounting tasks and prepare select footnote disclosures necessary to comply with external reporting requirements.
    • Prepare analyses required to support monthly tax provision entries.
    • Manage Tax Accounts within the GL, including recording entries and reconciling account balances.
    • Calculate tax adjustments based on forecasted data.
    • Calculate tax adjustments on a year end basis for the tax provision as well as the tax return.
    • Review tax return forms prepared by an outside provider.
    • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation requirements.
    • Assess current operating environment and drive process improvements utilizing technology for automation.
    • Support various audits - internal audit, external audit, account integrity, and spreadsheet testing.
    • Facilitate meetings and project management. Coordinate with other functional areas such as Forecast, Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Capital Markets, Corporate Consolidations, Insurance, etc.
    • Prepare the calculation of provision to tax return adjustments.
    • Operate within OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Workflow Manager tax software.
    • Assess current accounting practice and ensure appropriate application of accounting policy.
    • Help ensure compliance with FIN 48 (ASC 740) and FAS 5 Uncertain Tax Positions for quarterly and annual reporting.
    • Assist with tax research for income tax matters and document these conclusions in position papers.
    • Interface with leaders and staff of various tax functions.
    • Complete special projects, ad hoc requests, and support enterprise-wide initiatives such as acquisitions, new systems, automation projects, etc.

    The Skills You Bring

    • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in accounting - CPA certification is preferred/working toward obtaining CPA.
    • 1+ years of relevant tax or technical accounting experience. Some public accounting is preferred. Outside of public accounting, large multi-national experience is preferred.
    • Experience with ASC 740 is preferred.
    • Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications. SAP or OneSource experience is a plus.
    • High aptitude for new skills, flexibility around work assignments, adaptable to changing priorities, and strong desire to work as part of a team.
    • Highly organized and detail oriented, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communication with professionals at all levels.

    Base Pay Range:

    Emerging: 55000

    Experienced: 75000

    Expert: 95000

    Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
