YOUR IMPACT We are seeking a dynamic, quick-thinking self-starter with a passion for alternative investments. The ideal candidate is an alternative investment industry professional with a proven track record and strong communication skills who has the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and successfully increase the sale of GSAM alternative products. The senior alternative specialist position covering the Northwest or Midwest United States is a fast paced, challenging sales role for self-motivated and driven sales profession als.
OUR IMPACT The Goldman Sachs Asset Management Division (“AMD”) delivers innovative investment solutions through a global, multi-product platform that offers clients the advantages that come with working with a large firm, while maintaining the benefits of a boutique. GSAM is one of the pre-eminent investment management organizations globally. Critical to the success of GSAM is our ability to leverage a global team of talented professionals to define solutions and lead change across the operational infrastructure. This role resides in the Alternative Investment Solutions Group within GSAM’s client business. The team is responsible for the sales, marketing and ongoing client support for the alternative investments offered by the firm through third party intermediaries such as banks, trust companies, broker-dealers, and registered investment advisors. Additionally, the team helps produce alternative investment related thought leadership content for both investment advisors and end investors to provide education on the alternative investment space.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
Manage a large sales territory in partnership with GSAM’s regional wholesaling partners in a thoughtful and productive way to serve internal and external clients and maximize commercial impact
Serve as a subject matter expert representing GSAM’s broad alternative investment solutions, including private equity, private credit, real estate, liquid a
lternatives and hed
ge funds
Establish, maintain, and grow relationships with alternative-focused advisors and capture investment placements
Consult and partner with other GSAM wholesalers who focus on GSAM’s broader investment capabilities to support and increase their alternative sales efforts
Execute consistent follow up with advisors to advance the sales process and deepen advisor relationships
Seek strategic opportunities to build meaningful scale in GSAM investment offerings as appropriate
Provide on-going training relative to our investment offerings to internal GSAM sales teams
Coordinate the development of product content to promote advisor engagement and sales activity
Serve as key point of contact for internal and external sales teams, providing content an expertise about the alternative landscape and GSAM funds
Partner with alts specific centers of influence at partner firms
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or equivalent), 7-10 years of financial industry experience
Series 7 and Series 63 licenses
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with alternative investment sales
Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively with others
Strong work ethic and commercial perspective
Preference for a Northeast or Midwest based professional
Existing relationships in the territory preferred
