    Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for an Algorithm Developer and Mathematical Analyst to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico .

    The Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) organization is dynamic and growing with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for national defense involving Directed Energy .

    Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 Algorithm Developer and Mathematical Analyst .

    Job Description Summary

    Researches, develops and maintains accurate and reliable mathematical algorithms and models to support directed energy and space-based applications.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Performs algorithm development for image processing, electro-optical and space systems.

    • Refines and validates complex problem specifications and leads teams to formulate problems and requirements in mathematical terms.

    • Leads complex mathematical algorithm development to support mission objectives.

    • Derives complex mathematical relationships based on physical first principles in novel engineering systems.

    • Designs computational architectures suitable for specific algorithmic needs.

    • Develops, debugs, and verifies complex algorithms for both GPP, GPU and FPGA computational platforms.

    • Optimizes algorithm and code for both memory and temporal performance.

    • Performs computational stability and scalability analysis.

    • Directs software and hardware implementation teams in the implementation of complex engineering algorithms.

    • Constructs algorithmic field test scenarios working with field test teams.

    • Generates reports and presents findings to stakeholders, providing clear and concise explanations of complex technical concepts.

    • Leads evaluation of resources to solve mathematical problems.

    • Contributes to the research strategy for the organization.

    • Forecasts future mathematical algorithm development needs and capabilities.

    • Develops and reviews proposals.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

    This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • 3 or years of experience with engineering/mathematics/physics to solve complex algorithm problems

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • (Level 4) 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • (Level 5) 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • A Master's or PhD in physics, mathematics, or an engineering discipline requiring strong mathematical proficiency preferred

    • Experience in a position that required analytical, quantitative reasoning and/or mathematical modeling skills

    • Experience developing data science algorithms to aid and assist in optimization and predictive analysis

    • Experience working with applied physics and math

    • Experience in computational mathematics and/or mathematical algorithms

    • Experience with a higher-level programming code (e.g. C, Matlab, Python, or similar)

    • Experience performing modeling and/or simulation of Electro-Optical and Infrared systems with a technical computing language, such as Matlab or Mathematica

    • Experience writing technical documentation

    • Experience in a role that required strong technical, analytical, and writing skills

    Typical Education/Experience:

    (Level 3)

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).

    (Level 4)

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.)

    (Level 5)

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).

    Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

    Summary pay range (Level 3): $102,850 - $139,150

    Summary pay range (Level 4): $124,100 - $167,900

    Summary pay range (Level 5): $147,900 - $200,100
