    Role Summary

    The Advanced Lead Aerospace Engineer will work with the Installation Aerodynamics group to design and assess commercial turbofan nacelles, particularly by leading validation and advancing the usage of high-fidelity CFD methods. In parallel, you will perform aerodynamic design, test, and optimization of inlets, nacelles, exhaust systems, and heat exchangers as well as related aerodynamic components. In this role you will also coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including airframers, global partners, leadership staff, and the broader Installation Aero team to provide aerodynamic performance assessments and optimize the design of commercial aviation propulsion systems.

    Essential Responsibilities

    As the Advanced Lead Aerospace Engineer, you will:

    • Advance the state-of-the-art in computational aerodynamic predictions through high-fidelity methods development, solver validation, and standard work definition

    • Support computational tool and workflow development with testing and developer feedback

    • Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, aerodynamic analysis, design, test, and integration functions required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements

    • Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers

    • Use, develop, and test in-house engineering tools to perform aerodynamic evaluations

    • Set up and execute test programs achieving test objectives within schedule and budget guidelines

    • Document and communicate aero design, analysis, and test data results

    • Share engineering information, lessons learned, and promote open dialogue

    • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Master of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on CFD and 6 years of experience

    • PhD from an accredited university or college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on CFD and 3 years of experience

    Desired Characteristics

    • Experience in engine or aircraft aerodynamic design and CFD

    • Experience with high-fidelity CFD meshing, solving, and post-processing workflows

    • Demonstrated passion for the aviation industry

    • Ability to document, plan, and manage technical programs

    • Highly motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

    • Proven teaming and collaboration capability
