    Administrative Manager-AMB CARE SERV-Administration-New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai-Full Time, Days

    Oversees the daily operations of the Ophthalmology Comprehensive and Sub-Specialty Clinics to assure patients receive quality care and that the department is run efficiently. Will facilitate an environment of care that supports quality practice and clinical excellence.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee day to day operations of the Ophthalmology Comprehensive and Sub-Specialty Clinics. Develop, implement, delegate, and supervise departmental procedures and work assignments, and assure staff compliance with same. Anticipate and effectively resolve issues interfering with the efficient delivery of patient care.

    • Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy and active listening through dialogue, body language and actions.

    • Completes daily rounding on patients and staff to ensure quality provision of care. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients, families and significant others.

    • Leads institutional Patient Satisfaction initiatives to enhance organizational performance. Demonstrates professional behavior reflective of leadership best practices.

    • Coordinates quality initiatives, process improvements and aligns and manages to metrics. Collects data, prepares reports, analyzes statistics, and responds to correspondence in a timely manner.

    • Coordinates with senior management on monitoring clinical activities to ensure cost-effective, high-quality health care for patients consistent with the mission and resources of the hospital.

    • Communicates quantitative and qualitative information regarding the patient experience and staff engagement to the staff and the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team that leads to the development and implementation of an action plan.

    • Collaborates with the physician and nursing tria and escalates concerns as appropriate. Supports implementation of the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the department, throughout the clinical service and individual patient care units.

    • Maintains compliance with all regulatory agency mandates, including the regulations of NYS DOH and The Joint Commission.

    • Evaluates administrative support staff performance and mentors, coaches, counsels and disciplines staff as needed.

    • Leads a shared decision making model by establishing a structure of shared governance, just culture and staff engagement in practice councils, departmental meetings and initiatives.

    • Monitors, reports, and solves for patient account denials due to missing authorizations and demographic & insurance verification errors.

    • Prepare and monitor patient statistical reports in order to plan department restructuring to accommodate changes in patient volume. Evaluate and revise patient scheduling to maximize timeliness of patient flow.

    • Participate in performance improvement activities to identify and improve the delivery of patient care.

    • Actively participate in meetings and appropriately disseminate information to retina center and medical staff.

    • Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements.

    • Displays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended community

    • May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor degree in health care management or hospital administration, or in relevant clinical area. Masters preferred.

    • At least 3 years managerial experience in a hospital based ambulatory care center or a multi physician private practice.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; assertive and a self-directed.

    • Strong interpersonal skill with focus on customer service.

    • Proficient in the use of computers and related software applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, knowledge of Meditech desirable.

    • Knowledge of billing, accounting, analytic and organizational skills.

    • Three years supervisory experience and/or clinical leadership.
