  • Job Title: Accounting Assistant

    Job Description: Join our dynamic company with a vibrant culture and ample opportunities for career growth. As an Accounting Assistant, you will collaborate with our core accounting team to support various accounting operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Accurately code items such as invoices, expense reports, and check requests, ensuring they conform to standard procedures and are correctly entered into the financial system.

    • Manage vendor correspondence and compliance, including tracking subcontractor insurance, lien waivers, and processing credit applications from vendors.

    • Electronically process subcontractor contracts and track the receipt of required documents.

    • Assign and monitor sales and use tax, as well as manage tax exemption certificates.

    • Attach delivery slips to incoming invoices and ensure all supporting documentation is included.

    • Investigate and resolve issues related to the processing of invoices and purchase orders.

    • Assist in the preparation of monthly status reports and support monthly closing activities.

    • Reconcile various accounts by identifying posting errors or omissions and applying appropriate accounting standards.

    • Handle routine internal and external inquiries regarding account status, and communicate resolutions of discrepancies to the relevant parties.

    • File, maintain, and distribute accounting documents, records, and reports.

    • Perform additional duties as needed to support the Accounting Department.

    Essential Skills

    • College Degree or 3 years of relevant experience.

    • One-year experience in Accounts Payable and office environment.

    • Proficiency in computer and software applications.

    • Comfortable working in a paperless environment.

    • Energetic and people-oriented attitude.

    • Understanding of accounting practices.

    • Attention to detail.

    • Strong data entry skills.

    • Effective communication with vendors over the phone.

    • Phone etiquette.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of Sage 300 software and/or cost accounting is a plus.

    • Experience processing 400-500 invoices monthly.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00

    3 weeks paid leave - personal sick vacation. 8 holidays. 7 stated 1 floater. 401k 4% match. Every year there is profit sharing. 3-5.5% (must be enrolled in plan). FMLA through MetLife. 2 dental plans through MetLife. Blue Cross Blue shield - PPO and HMO. HSA. (NY does not get HMO). $10,000 free life insurance policy. MetLife long term disability available.
