    Work Schedule: 8 Hr (9:00:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM)

    Summary:

    In conjunction with the manager, Center for Academic Excellence (CAE), the Data and Research Academic Specialist is responsible for one-on-one and group tutoring and instruction of RUSH students, faculty, and other personnel on topics including but not limited to research methodology for both qualitative and quantitative data, statistical analysis, math skills, as well as time management and academic coaching. Under the Manager, Center for Academic Excellence's supervision, the Academic Specialist will work directly with faculty, program directors, advisors, and deans from each college to provide graduate-level instruction based on the needs of faculty/staff and each academic program. In partnership with the manager, the specialist will also aid in collecting and analyzing student success data for CAE programs.

    Required Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or Masters' and four years of experience in math, data analysis or other relevant field of study (such as social science/education degree with research experience.)

    • Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research projects.

    • Superior research methodology knowledge.

    • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with teams and students from diverse communities and backgrounds.

    • Strong active listening skills.

    • Experience with distance learning support.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, SPSS statistical software and web conferencing software.

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Experience as a tutor or academic support administrator in academic/learning support services.

    • One to three years of student development experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assess the needs of each student based on their request and need.

    • Work directly with each person requesting assistance in both individual and group formats.

    • Provide in-depth feedback for final research project proposals and submissions for publication.

    • Provide statistical support, including assisting in the research process, and helping to organize data, analyze data, and organize results.

    • Provide academic coaching, including teaching time management, study skills, and note taking/organizational skills.

    • Design and implement Workshop Curriculum to deliver information per request on topics such as research methodology for both qualitative and quantitative data, statistical analysis, and math skills.

    • Communicate to the CAE manager any progress or lack of progress made with students utilizing CAE services.

    • Manage quantitative and qualitative student success data collection.

    • In partnership with the CAE manager, develop and maintain LMS data collection tool.

    • Securely and confidentially utilize institutional student data per FERPA guidelines.

    • In conjunction with CAE manager, review support needs of each college per semester and make recommendations for support services.

    • Collaborate with library staff to provide research and reference materials support.

    • Assist in the promotion of the center through participation in university-wide events included but not limited to orientations, presentations, and CAE events.
