    Description of Work Unit

    The Office of Engagement and Extension ( OEE ) was organized in 2006 to advance CSU's engagement and outreach missions. OEE includes CSU Extension, CSU Extended Campus (including CSU Online), the Colorado Water Center and a variety of vibrant programs that engage the teaching, research, extension, and service missions of Colorado State University. The Vice President for Engagement and Extension ( VPEE ) is the principal administrative, academic, and fiscal officer for the division, reports to the CSU President, and works closely with the Provost/Executive Vice President. OEE works collaboratively across all Colleges and offices on campus, and has strong engagement programs throughout Colorado, the Western US and globally.

    The Colorado Water Center (CoWC) is one of 54 Water Resources Research Institutes created by the Water Resources Act of 1964, collectively forming the National Institutes for Water Resources. As a division under Colorado State University's ( CSU ) O?ce of Engagement and Extension ( OEE ), the Center aims to connect all water expertise in Colorado's higher education system with research and education needs of the state's water managers and users. The CoWC leads interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach activities to address complex and evolving water-related challenges in Colorado and beyond. The Center fosters collaboration among stakeholders, synthesizes objective water knowledge to inform decision-making, and inspires the next generation of water leaders.     Position Summary

    The Colorado Water Center (CoWC) is expanding the Water Equity Program. This program promotes equitable access to water resources and information, a diverse water workforce representative of the communities served, and integration of equity practices into the water field. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the CoWC team as the Water Equity Program Coordinator, who will work closely with the CoWC Water Equity Program Leader in developing, implementing, and expanding the program. The coordinator must be able to take initiative and work independently, foster relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders, plan and deliver outreach-related events, and develop collaborative partnerships across the state.

    Success in this position requires the ability to communicate and build relationships with diverse organizations, students, and stakeholders. The coordinator will also support the implementation and expansion of theColoradoWater Fellows Program, (~~~/) which is focused on diversifying the water workforce through partnerships with academic institutions across Colorado. The coordinator will work with the Water Equity Program Leader to develop proposals for external funding to support expansion of the Water Equity Program. This position requires prioritization among multiple projects, adaptability, effectively meeting deadlines, and handling the unexpected with professionalism.

    Funding for this position is made possible by a United States Geological Survey ( USGS ) 104b grant. This full-time position is anticipated to last three years, with possible extension, pending performance and continued funding. If additional funding is not secured, this position will end or may be reduced in time/effort.

    The primary office location is in Fort Collins, CO. While this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, the individual is expected to maintain a balance by establishing a presence in the primary office to effectively carry out the duties of the position. Work schedules will vary, but some nights and weekends will be required. This position will include occasional travel within Colorado. The position is supervised by the CoWC Water Equity Program Leader.

    Required Job Qualifications

    • Completed bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus two or more years of experience with partnership development and community outreach/engagementORsix total years of equivalent work experience.

    • One or more years of experience in project or program coordination.

    • Experience cultivating a culture of diversity and inclusion.

    • Experience with planning workshops, trainings, or events.

    • Experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders.

    • Personal or professional commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders with diverse background, perspectives, and priorities.

    • Willing and able to travel throughout Colorado.

    • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    • Understanding of Colorado and Western U.S. water systems, complex issues, and key stakeholders.

    • Excellent writing and communication skills.

    • Experience writing grant proposals.

    • Experience working in the water field and/or environmental education programs.

    • Familiarity with CSU System's colleges and programs and/or other educational programs across the state.

    • Actively and independently collaborate with partners including (but not limited to): water providers, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, community organizations, CSU OEE , CSU Spur, etc.

    • Support the Water Equity Program through grant proposal writing, related project planning & implementation, evaluation, and reporting. Training will be provided as needed.

    • Assist in budget management, operations, and evaluation processes.

    • Ensure that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ( DEI ) principles are integrated into project work plans, data collection, analysis and evaluations, reporting, and external project and program communications.

    • Coordinate the logistics for Water Fellows attendance at Colorado water conferences.

    • Maintain the Water Fellows website.
