    Job Description

The DMPK&M oncology modeling group develops mechanistic mathematical models of drug candidates and their effects on cancer using in vitro and animal data in order to translate preclinical findings into clinical projections of target patient population, biomarker modulation, and dose-response relationships. We partner closely with bench scientists and clinicians to provide high-quality decision support to early drug R&D.

    Job Description:

The current Takeda modus operandi when starting a new mathematical modeling activity is to start from scratch, resulting in duplication of effort across the modeling teams and bespoke models that are rarely QC'ed in a systematic way. This summer internship project seeks to address these issues by

    • Developing a platform of reusable (specifically mono- and multi-specific antibody therapy) model modules that are already QC'ed and can be used to rapidly initiate a modeling effort

    • Speeding up and increase quality of recurring motifs in antibody binding modeling

    • Contributing to higher quality on-time delivery of modeling insights to project teams.

    Internship Development Opportunities:

    • Exposure to mechanistic PK/PD modeling in an industrial setting.

    • Learn to understand different ways of working in the QCP field

    • Experience with gathering requirements and 'customer' (ie modeler) management.

    Job Requirements:

    • This position will be Hybrid and require 2-3 days in the Cambridge, MA office per week.

    • Must be a PhD candidate in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutics with prior exposure to ODE, and ideally, QSP modeling

    • Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel)

    • Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gathering

    • Highly reliable and a strong team player

    • Flexible with an attention to detail

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Internship Eligibility

    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship

    • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later

    • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames

    • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates

    • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

    Program Highlights:

    • Hands-on experience with real projects and responsibilities

    • Dedicated mentorship program pairing interns with experienced professionals

    • Networking opportunities with industry professionals and fellow interns

    • Internship events focused on professional and skills development

    • Exposure to multiple business areas or departments within a Pharmaceutical Organization
