    The 12-week NiSource Internship program starting May 18th, is a multi-faceted development experience that provides our interns with challenging and meaningful work that impacts the communities we serve. As a NiSource intern, you will have the opportunity to learn from senior leadership and build professional relationships with employees across our company. The NiSource Internship program also incorporates workshops to learn about NiSource, the energy industry and infuses learning and development opportunities that sharpen your professional skills. The robust program will aid in building the fundamentals needed to enter the energy workforce upon graduation.

    Job Summary

    The sustainability intern will support the work of the NiSource Sustainability department and cross-functional ESG Team, which is responsible for driving enhanced sustainability performance across NiSource. The intern will receive hands on experience in ESG strategy and management, data gathering, management and reporting processes, and will conduct research of sustainability best practices from other leading companies. The intern will report to the Manager, Environmental Policy and Sustainability, and collaborate with the ESG Team and other internal business partners. Successful candidate must be capable of working virtually and in the office.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support data collection and reporting to internal and external stakeholders around ESG performance

    • Promote continuous improvement around sustainability within the organization through data analysis and collaboration

    • Conduct research of sustainability best practices from other leading companies

    • Develop materials to support ESG Team meetings

    • Successful candidate will start in summer session

    Required Qualifications for Position

    • Enrolled in a college or university with a focus in sustainability, business, economics, environmental science or a related field is preferred

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

    • Strong writing, proofreading and organizational skills

    • High performance individual eager to learn and ready to take ownership of assigned duties

    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively on teams

    $17.20 - $27.80
