What Are the Biggest Brands in Retail?

If you like to shop, it should come as no surprise to you that the top retail brands in the United States are also some of the biggest brands in the world. According to Deloitte, Touche and Tohmatsu, one of the Big Four consulting and professional service firms in the world, out of 250 retailers, 33 percent of the world's largest retail brands are based in the United States.

Wal-Mart

It likely comes as no surprise that Wal-Mart is often ranked as a top retail brand worldwide. When you walk into a Wal-Mart, you have the opportunity to buy everything from clothing to food to electronics. This variety, mixed in with extremely low prices, is the key to Wal-Mart's success. Another factor that contributes to Wal-Mart's thriving business is the addition of their m-commerce division. Some of their best shopping deals are offered online.

Costco

Costco offers some of the best deals for quantity buyers in the world. The chain awards good bargains to customers that buy in bulk. As one of the top retail brands in the world, Costco uses what some call an unorthodox approach to provide the best shopping deals around: they limit the amount of products they have to sell to you. In comparison to Wal-Mart, Costco offers one-tenth of the items in their stores than Wal-Mart does.

The Kroger Company

The Kroger Company is one of the United States' largest food retailers. You probably know Kroger under one of its other names, like Ralph's or Food 4 Less. As a top retail brand, the key to Kroger's success is variety. You won't find pricey items in a Food 4 Less, which are typically located in working class or lower income neighborhoods. You will, though, find such higher-quality items like filet mignon or Alaskan king crab legs at a Ralph's in a upper-middle class neighborhood.

Home Depot

One of the top retail brands for home improvement products is Home Depot. Whether you are looking to fix your own sink or add hard wood floors to your house, Home Depot is the first place most people head to for materials and supplies. The key to Home Depot's success is a mission statement that believes in taking care of their customers and their community.

Amazon.com

Like Walmart, Amazon.com believes in m-commerce. One of the first of the large retail chains to offer service via mobile devices and credit cards, Amazon.com is a retail industry leader because of their Internet sales. Online purchases account for all of Amazon's sales, setting a trend for retailers all over the world. The days of heading to the shopping mall are limited with companies like Amazon.com offering you any retail deal with one touch to your cell phone.

It should come as no surprise to you that the top retail brands in the world are also the largest. Since the retail industry is constantly evolving, the best way for the largest retail brands to stay in the game is to stay on top of the trends that keep shoppers coming back for more.
