Since it's a new year, I figured I would try out some new techniques for happiness, success, career satisfaction and the like. While in college, I rarely thought about these things when the new year came - I just prepared for a new semester. As an adult, I realize that a new year doesn't have to symbolize new beginnings but it is a nice time to take stock of ourselves. This week I went to a "visualization class" at my yoga studio. If this is too new-age for you, I understand. I'm a fairly logical person but I figured an experience like this couldn't hurt. Since I'm a visual learner, I realized this was a great opportunity to "see" what I wanted out of my future.
In this class, we created vision boards of things we wanted in our life (not material things). I realized it's a great time for students and new graduates to figure out what is most important and design a path to success. Whether it's creating a list or cutting out a few pictures, I realized that a visualization technique just might work for me.
I also realized I'm not alone in this quest. This article gives great information if you want to try a visualization technique. There is a great deal of information on this site so it might take you a while to see if this method is right for you, but I urge you to give it a try. It just might make your goals a reality. I will update you on my progress as well.
Please comment if you have any tips for visualization or success in the New Year!
