With the state of today’s economy, more and more people are becoming more pragmatic when it comes to making career choices. As a result, it makes complete sense to determine which jobs will be in demand in future years. Some of the job industries that will be more popular in the coming years include:

HealthCare Jobs

As the baby-boomer demographic ages, there will understandably be a demand for healthcare workers. Specialties that will be especially in demand include doctors and nurses that deal with geriatrics. Moreover, the demand for specific healthcare workers such as Respiratory Therapists will also increase. As healthcare work is a hands-on profession, it will also be highly unlikely that your job would be outsourced to another country at some point.

Jobs in Technology

Another job sector that is expected to grow is the information technology industry. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the computer systems design industry is expected to grow by a very generous forty-five percent between the years 2008 and 2018. Better still, the hosting and data processing industry is expected to grow by fifty-three percent over the exact same time period.

Environmental Jobs

As there is more concern over the state of the environment – as well as more environmental problems in general, there will be an increased need for all types of green professionals. Some of the more in demand jobs in the environmental sector include renewable energy consultants, sustainability technicians, environmental technicians, hydrologists, meteorologists and more.

Skilled Trades Jobs

Due to the fact that many people who are currently employed in the skilled trades professions will be retiring in the near future, there not surprisingly will be an increased demand for people with skilled trade knowledge. Without a doubt then, if learning a skilled trade appeals to you, then you should definitely seek out this type of career due to the increased demand for skilled trade services.

If you are contemplating a post-secondary education, it would be to your advantage to keep these careers in mind when you choose your major and/or other vocational path.
