Interesting Way To Land a Holiday Job

Apparently the shoppers to target this holiday season are seniors. This article states that not only are they growing in numbers but are also growing wealthier. It goes on to list how retailers can make their locations more attractive to the "older" population.

For example:

Making signs easier to read
Friendly staff
Lots of comfortable places to sit
Higher quality items

I bring up this trend just to comment that with Black Friday here and Christmas just around the corner, holiday job seekers are going to have to make themselves stand out from the thousands of other job seekers out there.

This never would have occurred to me before reading that article, but when I read it I thought that trends like these are gold to employers. Especially retail employers who are looking for employees who will bring in customers.

Imagine yourself in a job interview and the interviewer asks you a question like: Why should I hire you? Or, what makes you different from other candidates?

Touting a trend like this, or at least highlighting the fact that you pay attention to the retail industry, may be beneficial.

One thing I've learned as a job seeker is that sometimes employers throw curve balls. You have to be prepared for everything. So go out there and get that retail job!
