The joke of the title of this article may be somewhat lame but think about it. What these days doesn’t have an app? Everything in our lives is going mobile. Something needs doing? Don't panic, there's probably an app for that
As everyone must certainly be aware of, the two contenders at the forefront of our new global hunger for app life are Apple’s iPhone technology and Google’s Android technology.
Is one better than the other?
Who knows.
What I do know is that I personally choose the Android phone.
Now you may be wondering, how does this pertain to me in my jobsearch?
Well, let me just say, after spending a substantial amount of time thumbing through the Market, here are:
THE TOP 5 FREE ANDROID APPS FOR JOB SEEKERS
- JOB SEARCH by Indeed.com—coming in on top with over a million downloads and a four and a half star review is this app which features the websites, agencies, and job boards of thousands of companies. It is described as “the most comprehensive search engine for jobs.” It not only features opportunities in the USA but nine other countries as well! Oh and did I forget to mention that it’s FREE? Impressive.
- GOOGLE MAPS by Google, Inc.—when you land that job interview the last thing you want to do is be late because you got lost trying to find the right location. Never fear, Google Maps is here. It offers voice-guided turn by turn GPS Navigation whether you are driving or walking. I discovered it also can give a satellite image of your destination so you will be sure to recognize it.
- COLORNOTE NOTEPAD by Notes—it is never a bad idea to jot down some notes about your interview before and after. This app enables you to make notes, checklists, to do lists, and also organize your schedule in a calendar. It is all password-protected and backed up in your SD storage for safe keeping.
- GEOQPONS by Most Useful Shopping App—you most certainly want to look your best so why not save money too. What this application has to offer is mobile coupons and deals every day. You can search for local business or more identifiable brand name retailers. Either way you will look great and have a few extra bucks!
- CRAIGSLIST by Notification—whether you just received the offer for a position or you are still in the market for a job, you can’t go wrong with the Craigslist App. Anything you might need to furnish your lifestyle you can find here. You can browse all the categories, pick favorites and reply to the ads.
This was just a few of the useful apps I found. There were some for interview questions and answers, resume tips, social networking and so many more. Just be sure to read each app’s description and reviews before downloading it. Also don’t forget to protect your device with an antivirus software app. Happy hunting!
