Create a Thank Goodness List

Posted by in Career Advice

One of the best ways to keep yourself motivated during your construction job search is to create a thank goodness list. This can be extremely helpful on those days where you get a little discouraged. Many times we don’t realize how much we have going for us. It is important to do an inventory of our assets in order to give us a clear picture of all that we have. It doesn’t matter who you are, you have things for which to be thankful.

One of the best ways to become aware of your blessings is to simply write them down on a sheet of paper. To begin, get sheets of lined paper (as many as necessary) and a pen. Turn on some easy listening music, and start thinking of all the things you have to be grateful for. Write them down as fast as they come to you. Include everything you can think of.

All things:
big and small
long and tall

short and fat
and that ain't all

include things you take for granted
objects and items quite enchanted

include your wealth
and of course your health

friends, significant other or spouse,
your car, golf clubs and yes your house

your kids, your dog, gold fish and cat
your clothes, and shoes and familiar hat

of course there is much, much more
and that's what this exercise is for.

Once you have created a list of things you truly have to be grateful for you will be more prepared to create more success in your life. That is how the universe works; it gives you more of what you appreciate. On the days you don't feel so happy, (and the days that you do feel happy) pull this list out read it thoroughly. It can create a whole new awareness of the things you have to be thankful for. Remember, YOUR PERCEPTION IS YOUR REALITY.
