Booming Careers Now

Posted by in Career Advice

For those still wondering what the job market has to hold, an interesting article posted by Yahoo's education site can provide some help. These are jobs that pay well (many over 40K a year), and are expected to continue to offer job opportunities well into 2018. In addition, for most of them, only a BA degree or a certification of some kind is required for eligibility.

My sister, for example, is taking courses part-time to be a nursing assistant (one of these "hot jobs"). She works full time doing a morning shift at work and then takes her classes in the evening. So it will take some time for her to finally get her certifications, but not forever. It is a really great option for people who are looking for work or want to improve their situation for the long term. The crisis will not last forever and in the meantime you can get some extra training skills or education to prepare yourself for these careers that are just starting to boom.

Career sites are perfect places to take full advantage of these opportunities. They have a portal dedicated to improving resumes for applicants, facilitate your interaction with potential employers, and allows you to search for jobs like these easily. It's worth it to check out these opportunities where you live even if you may not have all of the qualifications at the moment. Perhaps one of the employers may offer you some training if you have a bit of experience or education in the field already.

In addition, many of these fields (auditors for example) have been slow in the past. My dad had been a state auditor for all of his professional life and got laid off before there was even a crisis. Now would be the perfect time for someone like him to dig up old contacts, make new ones, and freshen up their resume. Maybe even get some additional training if you feel out-of-date in the technological side of things.

The list of jobs are as follows:

  1. Accountant/Auditor
  2. Financial Examiner
  3. Dental Assistant
  4. Physical Therapist Assistant
  5. Registered Nurse
  6. Computer Software Engineer, Applications
