Society of Women Engineers Promotes Diversity and Inclusion

Posted by in Engineering

Founded in 1950, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE empowers women to succeed, advance and be recognized for their contributions and achievements in the field of engineering.

SWE helps women to pursue their engineering goals at all levels. The organization is dedicated to helping college students succeed with a goal of raising the number of women graduating with engineering degrees from 18 to 30 percent by 2020. To achieve this goal, SWE awards more than $500,000 in scholarships each year. They also sponsor competitive events, and provide valuable job and internship search resources.

SWE helps women engineers stay connected through many of today’s leading social networking and interactive sites, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and their blog SWETalk.

Every year, SWE conducts its annual conference, which offers women engineers and technologists a wide range of opportunities to advance their careers and develop leadership skills. From interactive workshops to industry-leading career fairs and educational, technical tours, these annual conferences empower women engineering professionals and collegiate members. At their career fair, hundreds of exhibitors--including industry-leading corporations, government agencies and graduate schools--recruit job candidates and conduct on-site interviews.

Next year’s annual conference will take place October 13-15, 2011 in Chicago. Get more information on the SWE Annual Conference.
