The past few years have seen the debate about filing sharing and digital piracy really heat up. The music industry has been searching for new ways to prevent people for copying their CDs, the movie companies have been forced to add more and more bonus content on DVDs to encourage people to buy the movie rather than watch it online and game developers have started making games that are free to play, but you have to pay for additional content. The media attention to high profile lawsuits like the drawn out trial of owners of The Pirate Bay, have ignited the discussion about what file sharing is, is it copying or stealing?
No matter where you stand on file sharing, I thought this video was an interesting look back at the argument. It is always funny to me to see the old Public Service Announcements from the 80's. So take a look at this one, it is called “Don't Copy That Floppy”. You'll have to admit, the wardrobe is bad, but we all looked bad back then.
I hope you enjoy, and Don't copy that floppy! (I'm pretty sure I there isn't much of a demand for pirated floppies of Oregon Trail)
