You know how you are always hearing about the three R’s – reduce, reuse, recycle. You see programs on TV about recycling and about changing our world – stopping global warming. Do you take it seriously? Did you ever stop to think that maybe you could be the one who could make a difference? That you could actually have a career in “green” technology?
Green technology is where we are heading and new careers will be created because of it. Using the wind for energy, solar power and many other green technologies are sprouting up all over the country.. Many states are taking a serious look at this as it will save them countless dollars in the future. The demand for skilled workers in wind energy/renewable energy technology is going to grow immensely over the next fifteen years. Minnesota is one of the states taking the bull by the horns and planning now for green collar jobs.
Of course Minnesota isn’t the only state. If you are sitting on the sidelines right now wondering what type of career to go for, this might be the right career path for you. Check out your local college(s). See what types of programs they offer for green technology. Green technology is expected to grow faster than any other technology and skilled workers will be needed at an increasingly rapid rate.
Some of the green disciplines include:
Agricultural & Food systems
Environmental Engineering
Environmental Chemistry
Environmental Geology
Environmental law
Environmental Sciences
Forestry
Sustainability
Urban Planning
Wildlife & Fisheries Biology & Conservation
Check into some of these programs at your local community college and four-year degree seeking schools. Some schools are offering certificate programs in order to retrain many blue and white collar unemployed to become part of the green collar workforce.
Green technology is here to stay and is only going to grow. You see it in the news and on TV so why not join in the battle to save our planet for future generations?
