With so much pressure to perform well at work, many employees neglect themselves and face work every day with a frazzled state of mind. Protect yourself from becoming burned out and improve your productivity in the process.

Consume a Better Diet

If you diet is imbalanced, you are more likely to feel a loss of energy earlier in the day, and a hectic job may compound those feelings. Consuming a healthier diet can help you if you are burned out from your job, so eat a diet that is rich in vegetables, fruits and other natural, low-fat options. A feeling of thirst can also provoke mental and physical irritation, so drink at least eight glasses of water a day to flush your system, improve your circulation and prevent yourself from becoming dehydrated at your desk.

Create an Effective Work Schedule

Many burned out employees suffer from overworking themselves and anticipating their workload. Create a unique schedule for yourself to reduce the burden of stress. Creating a work schedule each day can prevent your mind from wandering to multiple projects, and it reduces the anxiety surrounding your workload. When you realize that there is adequate time to finish everything, you decrease your mental anguish significantly. Create a special time slot to work on each task, and focus on one task at a time to concentrate better. Note the time of day that you have the most energy, and aim to complete high-priority tasks during this time to avoid getting burned out before the work day is over.

Make the Most of Breaks

Do not make the mistake of worrying about returning to work and the tasks you must complete if you are on break, or your break will only be a stressful time instead of an avenue for relief. Listen to relaxing music to clear your mind of work-related worries. Have a conversation with your co-workers about the day at work. They are probably facing the risk of becoming burned out as well, and you may find yourself laughing off your stress instead of wallowing in it. When you return to work, it will be easier to focus.

Take Some Time Off

Many workers who are on the verge of burnout tend to work overtime and neglect to use their vacation time. One of the easiest ways to avoid becoming burned out is to take some time off. It is better to call off of work than it is to clock in and explode in front of your co-workers and managers before lunchtime. Even taking a day or two away from your stressful job is one of the easiest tips for recovery that can rejuvenate you, recharge your faculties and place your work life in a better perspective.

No job is more important than your health, so find ways to avoid getting burned out in the office. Don't be afraid to tell your manager if the workload is unfair, and seek help from the human resources department if you need representation. Use tips for recovery from burnout whenever you experience the burden of stress to prevent it from zapping your livelihood and affecting your general state of wellness.
