Brand Your Business for Success at Job Fairs

It’s been just over 2 years since the women-owner small business Apogee Solutions contacted my partner and me to design their website and rebrand their company. They had a strong logo that they wanted to stick with and an image they wanted to convey as government contractors.

 

Because the company has experience in planning and executing space missions their name has a double meaning.

  1. The point in the orbit of the moon or a satellite at which it is furthest from the earth.
  2. The highest point in the development of something; the climax or culmination of something.


Their logo represents these concepts by using a swoop for the orbit and the star at its climax, concepts we carried into several areas of the branding design and everything grew from that.

 

Since then we have helped them produce a cohesive appearance across multiple formats. Their website coordinates with their letterhead, flyers, proposals, and much more. We developed a style guide that ensures all the staff across the board is sticking to the specific colors, fonts and graphic guidelines for a cohesive campaign in every area of the company.

 

One of the places that this attention to branding detail is paying off is at job fairs. Apogee is constantly on the quest to recruit new fresh talent and they attend job fairs every month all over the country. Since we’ve launched the new design recruiters have noticed a difference in the response they receive from potential candidates.

 

Director of Operations, Bob Walters noted, “We had a lot of attendees who specifically came looking for Apogee because they have been hearing our name.  Several mentioned that they had been monitoring our website.”

 

After seeing the website, the booth was easy to find because of the large banner, table cloth, takeaways and schwag all consistently branded to match the website. Instead of simply sticking to lanyards and ID badges, their recruiters also had ties that sported the company logo and background graphic that marked them as Apogee reps.

 

Because of this high level of branding, applicants, clients and competitors have mistaken them for a larger business than they actually are. Customers are often impressed when presented with the level of professionalism their promotional materials present and remark about it to the company president and other potential clients as well.

 

By stepping up their branding image and including it in online and offline media people are taking notice and Apogee Solutions has set a higher standard for others in their field.

    That is some good advice. Even thugoh I have been in the work place for quite a while, and presently employed, it is always good to be thinking of how the public will view you on the internet. You could say keep a shine on your shoes. You may need them to get you to the next job.
