Even though science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) jobs grab most of the headlines when it comes to high demand and great pay, creative jobs also offer a chance for candidates in graphic design, public relations and art direction. Here's why those types of positions aim to be wealth-builders in 2017.
Survey Says
CareerBuilder and Emsi produced a labor market database that divulges the outlook for creative jobs. Health care and tech jobs still dominate the research in terms of the best-paying positions in America. However, the study shows plenty of jobs and money available for creative types. The research pulls from federal labor statistics, job opening data, wages and growth over the past five years to come up with numbers for 2017.
1. Graphic Designers
Graphic designers added 21,000 jobs from 2011 to 2016 as one of the fastest-growing creative jobs in high demand. These positions typically pay between $37,000 and $57,000 per year.
2. PR Specialists
The need for public relations specialists also added 21,000 creative jobs to this industry. PR personnel make even more than graphic designers at $43,000 to $79,000, but there are 40,000 more graphic designers in the labor market as of early 2017.

How to Find These Jobs
The rise of the gig economy and YouTube helped spark demand for these creative jobs. Talent can show off their stuff with a freelancer website and freelancer aggregator sites. Workers also utilize online job boards and industry websites that tout these types of positions.
Creative jobs give people who are passionate about their unique talents a way to make money. People with a creative spark can still find their niche and roll with it despite other fields having greater job security.
