Android 3.0 Targets Tablets

What they say about how fast technology changes, is definitely a truth. For those currently in or seeking a position in the technology field, I assume, know how fast things change, but for those of us end users, it can be mind-blowing sometimes. I only recently joined the world of the Android phone, thinking it was the hot new thing. Now, only months later, the tablet is the hot new thing. And this becomes even more accurate with the release of Android 3.0.

In January, some tech sites leaked some information about the new Android 3.0 version, referred to as "Honeycomb," stating this new version is targeted mainly at the tablet market, or as the information leaked out has put it, it is built "entirely for Table." See the leaked video here.

For this new platform, TouchType has announced that they are releasing a new Android 3.0 tablet version of their already popular touch screen keyboard application, called SwiftKey. They say they have worked closely with Google to benefit greatly with this new Android version, and due to an improved edition of their fluency predictive text engine, this app will function even better than before. One site reports that the newly improved function "applies patent-pending AI technology to offer next-word prediction before a single character is entered."

Now, if only they would update and apply that technology to us "old" Android phone users.

TouchType has also worked with Motorola and the Xoom table, which will support the new Android 3.0, making sure they will also has this app available for use with their product. The keyboard layout supports multiple different configurations, and has the split key layout for easy two-thumb access.
