Whether you quit your job, were laid off or even if you were fired, it can be really hard to find the necessary motivation and enthusiasm to devote to your job search. But no matter how desperate and discouraged you feel, just know that you are not alone.
When you're feeling discouraged, it's important to remember that change is a constant in everyone's life. If you aren't changing, making mistakes and learning from them, you aren't growing.
We all seem to visualize personal growth as the beautiful, heaven-like experience. Unfortunately, the reality is that growing hurts and sometimes it hurts a lot. Remaining positive and looking for the motivation and inspiration that will help get you through the day and keep you focused on the bigger picture can make a huge difference.
When I am going through difficult times, I find that picking an inspiring quote to think about during the day can help raise my spirits and even help me see what's important in life more clearly.
Here are 15 of my favorite inspirational quotes:
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
Confucius
“The power of imagination makes us infinite.”
John Muir
“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Energy and persistence conquer all things.”
Benjamin Franklin
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.”
Aristotle
“Do or do not—there is no try”
Yoda
“In this life, we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.”
Mother Teresa
“Success is a journey, not a destination.”
Ben Sweetland
“Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”
Raymond Chandle
“Never confuse motion with action.”
Benjamin Franklin
"Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is specifically your own.”
Bruce Lee
”Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world!”
Joel Arthur Barker
“Intelligence is something we are born with. Thinking is a skill that must be learned.”
Edward de Bono
“Whether you believe you can, or whether you believe you can't, you're absolutely right.”
Henry Ford
“Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just stand there.”
Will Rogers
I hope that you will find one or two of these quotes inspirational. When you are going through difficult times, remember to be gentle with yourself. If you start to feel like giving up and crying your eyes out, remember this- Crying doesn't mean that you are weak, since you were born it has been a sign that you are alive.
